$45 million in Federal Support for Canadian Magazines APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED

The deadline for phase 2 of the Department of Canadian Heritage’s COVID-19 Emergency Support Fund for periodicals and community newspapers has been extended to Friday, August 7. 

Canadian magazines that do not currently receive support from the Canada Periodical Fund or from the Canada Council for the Arts are eligible to apply for support in this phase. Applications will be accepted through an online portal starting July, and applicants will need to sign an attestation form. 

The budget for this fund – which includes print and digital-only Canadian magazines and community newspapers – is $45 million. Thanks to the Department of  Canadian Heritage for recognizing the importance of our sector and mobilizing this support, and to our magazine colleagues at  Magazines Canada, L’Association québécoise des éditeurs de magazines, and the Magazine Association of BC for a successful collaborative effort.
