The Alberta Magazine Awards program honours and celebrates the work of magazine makers – the editors, art directors, writers, photographers, illustrators, and other creators – who collectively bring passion and insight to our unique Alberta culture and ensure Alberta voices and stories are shared throughout the province and beyond our borders.

The program recognizes extraordinary content with 19 written, visual, digital, and integrated Showcase Award categories, 5 Alberta Achievement Award categories, and 6 new Out-of-Province Awards.

New this year

COVID-19 Story
We really hope to retire this category after 2020, but in the meantime, the best COVID-19 story category showcases articles that have educated or informed readers on the COVID-19 pandemic. From important health and home schooling information to business survival strategies, magazines have been media leaders in sharing accurate and essential stories that matter to readers.

Out-of-Province Awards
We’ve expanded the award program to include Best Provincial Story and Western Magazine of the Year categories in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to acknowledge and celebrate exceptional content and publications created by our provincial neighbours.
